《英语语音教程》网络课程An English Pronunciation Course -
English Pronunciation on Line是专门为我国高等学校英语专业本、专科学生开发的。具有同等英语水平并希望通过英语语音语调的学习提高英语听说能力的自学者也可以使用本教程。学生通过该教程的学习，可以掌握标准正确的英语发音，学会使用自然得体的语音语调表达思想，以达到有效交际的目的。
《英语语音教程》网络课程共有15个单元。

本教程的第一单元介绍英语语音的音节、重音与节奏。同时，英语重音与节奏的训练将贯穿整个教程，目的是使学习者一开始就非常注意英语话语的这一特点，并通过大量的练习与实践达到掌握这一规律、养成良好习惯的目的。
本教程的其余14个单元根据训练的侧重点不同大致分为三个部分：第二至第七单元练习的重点是英语的辅音与元音；第八至第十二单元重点学习英语的节奏规律；第十三至十五单元介绍英语语调的种类、结构、功能和使用。
《英语语音教程》每个单元的编排都由以下五个部分组成。
一、 英语语音知识的简单介绍（Introduction）：课件以录音、录像两种方式提供有关英语语音知识的讲解，学生可以分别选择英文或中文作为听取解说的授课语言，并可以选择在听课时使用或不使用配套的文字材料。
二、 听辨、听力训练(如What did you hear? Same or different?
Listen and choose. Listen and respond.等)：课件提供了逐词的无反馈录音听辨练习和实时反馈的各种重音、音节、节律判断练习。
三、 发音、口语训练(如Say after me. Listen and repeat. Listen
and respond.等)：课件提供了以单音、单词和句子录音为单位的旨在训练发音的跟读练习，同时还采用人机对话方式进行的先听录音后用文字输入方式回答问题的旨在将所学语音知识用于实际交际的活用练习。课件将对回答做出反馈。
四、 听力理解训练（如Listen and answer. What information.
Get information.等）：课件采用人机对话方式进行的先听录音（体现所学单元要求掌握的语言功能的对话或短文）后用文字输入方式回答问题的活用练习。课件将对回答作出反馈，学习者以此检测自己的听力理解能力并将所听到的语言材料（词汇表达与语音表达）作为口语训练的样板。
五、 检测实际使用能力的训练（task），即以完成某项任务为手段的实际练习(如Talk to
me.)：课件按照每单元要求掌握的语言功能，提供以学生为对话一方机器为对话另一方的开放式虚拟交际环境，学习者将按要求完成各种交际任务并掌握相关的语言功能。
为了强化英语重音与节奏的训练，教程每个单元的听力与口语练习除了该单元所学习的重点语音项目外，还包含旨在帮助学习者更好地掌握英语重音、重音模式和节奏模式的练习(如Listen
for stress. Watch your stress. 等)。这种练习就像一条红线贯穿于整个教程，目的在于帮助学习者深刻认识英语话语中重音与节奏的模式与规律，提高学习者识别重音和节律的能力，使学习者一开始就能自觉地模仿正确的重音和节奏，提高话语的流利程度，养成良好的口语习惯。
《英语语音教程》网络课程要求学习者自觉、主动地去完成整个学习的过程，教师和外界环境的作用是为了帮助和促进学习者的学习。由学习者自主选择学习进度是本课程的特点之一。只要充分调动学习者的学习兴趣，充分发挥学习者的主动性和积极性，课程定能获得良好的学习效果。
